Education

Lee Beyer understands that education is the key to a bright future for our kids and our community. Lee is working to restore funding for our public schools to reduce class sizes and hire more well-qualified teachers. Lee Beyer is also leading the push for better technical training and workforce development options including:

  • Promoting STEM education—Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics—in our public schools.

  • Expanding Oregon’s National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) and on-the-job training programs.

  • Increasing funding for Head Start so we can prepare more children from low-income families for kindergarten and improve their chances of success in school.

  • A historic $6.85 billion investment in K-12 education allowing most school districts to avoid further cuts to school days and teacher positions.

  • Adding $2 million investment in Career and Technical Education.

  • Helping to make college more affordable for Oregon families by creating the Oregon Student Opportunity Fund—a permanent and dedicated fund to finance additional aid to aspiring students.

  • Providing capital construction funding for safety projects at the U of O and for expansion of the new OSU Cascades Campus.

  • Helped create the OregonPromise program which allows two-years of almost tuition-free education at community colleges.
